NOTE to the Class of 2021: Scholarship Applications Due on Friday December 2, 2016.
Please submit to the SJHS Admissions office.
The goal of the Saint Joseph High School Scholarship Program is to recognize the academic excellence and outstanding Christian service of our students. It is composed of two scholarships: Mother St. John Fontbonne and Carondelet.
These scholarships are not based exclusively on academic excellence because the mission of Saint Joseph High School clearly states, “The Jesters serve the dear neighbor without distinction and work toward a just future for all.” Our scholarship program is rooted in the memory of Mother St. John Fontbonne, the post-French Revolution re-foundress of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Mother St. John Fontbonne braved many obstacles to bring the sisters from France to America to care for the “dear neighbor.” She was a leader that inspired the Sisters to serve God and their neighbors.
An eighth grade student may apply for the Mother Saint John Fontbonne
scholarship if she has applied to SJHS and if she meets the following expectations:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 4.0 in the 7th and 8th grades
- Exemplary Christian service records in the 7th and 8th grades
The scholarship committee reviews all the applications. The top applicants are named Fontbonne Scholars and each Fontbonne Scholar receives a $3,000 tuition scholarship for her freshman year at SJHS. The scholarship is automatically renewed each year if her GPA and Christian service record is sustained. Saint Joseph High School awards Merit Scholarships in the amount of $500 each to incoming freshmen who take the High School Placement Test at Saint Joseph High School, achieve one of the top ten scores on the test, and have a 4.0 GPA in the first two quarters (or 1st trimester) of the 8th grade. (There is no application for the Merit Scholarship.)
