FAMILY CONNECTION NAVIANCE
The Naviance Family Connection is a web-based planning and advising system that will help you research careers and majors as well as find colleges that offer that major. It will allow you to keep track of your test scores, activities, and awards, as well as help you complete college applications and requirements. The College Counseling Program is directed by Counselors who:
Maintain a library of college and university literature, along with computers for the purpose of searching college websites and completing applications.
Help administer standardized tests (EXPLORE, PLAN, PSAT); direct applications for College Entrance Examinations Board test; and counsel examinees on basis of their scores.
Supply students with information about various types of financial aid and procedures for making applications for aid.
Provide information about college scholarships, encourage students to apply, and administer college scholarship examinations, if necessary.
Organize College Fair and college talks with college representatives.
Organize small group meetings during freshman and sophomore year to address career interest and college preparedness.
Set up appointments with students, starting their junior year, to discuss all matters pertaining to college entrance.
The Career Guidance Program at Saint Joseph High School offers students the following opportunities to:
Receive career information available in the College Career Center.
Utilize Family Connection by Naviance via the school web site.
Hear guest speakers on careers.
Explore various career options.
Discover their capabilities and limitations, interests and aptitudes.
Receive direction toward appropriate career options.
