CHRISTIAN SERVICE
“In gentleness, peace and joy we strive to become more loving and effective instruments of Christ’s zeal, knowing he is faithful in accomplishing his mission through us.” (CSJ Constitution)
“Do not be content with welcoming opportunities to serve when they arise; carefully and promptly seek them out yourself in order to imitate more perfectly your heavenly Father” (Sister of Saint Joseph of Carondelet Maxim VIII,5)
The Dear Neighbor Association
Service is a vital component of one’s Christian faith. As disciples of Christ, we are called to build the kingdom of God on earth. In response to this mission, the Saint Joseph High School Christian Service Program will provide opportunities for our students to participate in service learning projects. Through reflection, service and evaluation, students will be able to both meet the needs of the poor and vulnerable and develop an appreciation of service as the best use of their God-given gifts.
Christian Service is a graduation requirement based on completion of one service project per semester, to be submitted for credit in religion class. Failure to complete a project each semester will affect the student’s religion class grade, in addition to the student being required to take the Christian Service workshop in the summer to satisfy that semester’s Christian Service project requirement.
