FINANCIAL AID
General information about financial aid is available through the finance office. In order to maintain the
fairness of the admissions process, financial aid applications are not considered until the acceptance
and registration process is complete.
Catholic Education Foundation Sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, families may qualify
for this scholarship in the amount of $1,500 per school year. For additional information, you can access the CEF website. Please call the finance office by early January 2011 for program deadlines.
Saint Joseph Aid Saint Joseph Aid is funded through the generous donations of alumnae, alumnae
parents, friends of SJHS, and foundations. Families who have registered their daughter for the 2011-2012
school year may submit an application for Saint Joseph Aid consideration. Available aid is distributed
based on family need and income. Please contact the finance office for additional information.
Merit Scholarships Incoming Freshmen
There are three scholarships for incoming freshmen based on merit.
Applications are due on January 14, 2011.
The Carondelet Scholarship The Carondelet Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen with an
exemplary GPA and an outstanding record of Christian and community service. Students are awarded a
$1,000 tuition scholarship in her freshman year with the opportunity for renewal in her remaining three
years if she maintains a 3.95 GPA, and continues to “serve the dear neighbor” above and beyond what is
required by Saint Joseph High School.
The Mother Saint John Fontbonne Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshman with a minimum 4.0
GPA in all quarters (trimesters) of the 8th grade. In addition to academic achievement, Christian and
community service accomplishments are considered. The Fontbonne Scholar is awarded a $2,000 tuition
scholarship in her freshman year with the opportunity for renewal in her remaining three years.
Merit Scholarships A monetary scholarship of $500 will be awarded to the top ten students who have
scored the highest on the placement
exam (administered at SJHS) and have achieved a 4.0 in the first two quarters (or 1st trimester) of the
8th grade.
