ADMISSIONS
How can I become a freshman at Saint Joseph High School?
First, you apply to SJHS by returning the Application Form and submitting the testing fee.
Next, our registrar will request a copy of your current transcript, your standardized test scores, and a high school recommendation form from your present school.
Finally, you will complete your part of the application process by taking the High School Placement Examination and by interviewing at SJHS with your parents.
Why should I consider an all-girls school?
First of all, not every girl is meant to attend an all-girls school. However, studies have shown that, overall, those who attend all-girls schools tend to do better academically. They also have the opportunity to learn in an environment free from the pressures sometimes found in a co-ed school. There is the opportunity to develop skills which might not be pursued in a co-ed environment. This seems especially true in the areas of sports, student leadership programs, and the academic areas of math and science. It also does not mean that boys and men are never around campus. They just are not in the classroom. There is plenty of time for boys on the weekend or after school.
What does Saint Joseph High School look for in its applicants?
Acceptance is determined by review and evaluation of the following:
- 6th, 7th, 8th grade transcripts and standardized tests;
- attendance, conduct, and effort;
- recommendation of principal and 8th grade teachers;
- the results of the placement test; and
- the interview.
