NO TUITION INCREASE FOR THE 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR
I know you don't need to hear how financially difficult this year has been. Either you are experiencing it, or you know of others who are. In order to respond to the economic crisis in our society and to ease the financial pinch on our families, the Archdiocese has asked us not to raise tuition for the 2009-2010 year. Tuition will remain as it is for this year. It is nice to read good news every once in a while!

PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
Over 840 young women are presently enrolled at Saint Joseph High School. The school is fully accredited through June 2010 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA). The U.S. Department of Education named SJHS a 2002 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
Educational excellence is recognized and encouraged at SJHS. We offer honors and advanced placement and honors classes. For students who wish to go the extra mile, the school has a Distinguished Scholars Program. Students may also participate in: National Merit Scholarship Competition; California Scholarship Federation (CSF); National Honor Society (NHS); National Hispanic Scholars; French Honor Society (FHS) and Spanish Honor Society (SHS).
Prospective students should attend the following events as a part of the admissions process:
Placement Examination
Saturday, January 24, 2009 7:45am -11:30am (approximately)
On the morning of the exam, please drop your daughter off at the blue gates beside the Mary statue in the north parking lot at SJHS, no later than 7:45am. Members of the SJHS Student Council will check her in and escort her to an assigned classroom. All materials for the exam will be provided. A short break will be given during the exam, so your daughter may bring a light snack for the break. Students are asked to dress in comfortable but appropriate attire.

Faculty members are assigned to conduct interviews each day and we ask that you make every effort to come on your scheduled day. Interviews are between 20 and 30 minutes in length.
PORTFOLIOS
We are asking students to prepare a portfolio of work to share with us during the interview process. Sample work including essays, tests, artwork, projects and Christian Service activities are good things to include. Remember to include samples from a variety of subjects.
