The Arts

Welcome to another exciting school year of quality Catholic education in the CSJ tradition. The visual and Performing Arts Department of SJHS believes that study and practice of the arts enrich the Development of all students. The arts are an expression of our relationship with God, one another, and Nature. The arts allow students to communicate their dreams and ideals through sight, sound and language. The arts encourage student collaboration in their production and performance. The arts require complex thinking as students demonstrate technique. The arts celebrate cultural diversity and give students the opportunity to share their gifts and visions with their community. Skill, knowledge, and appreciation for the arts do not develop automatically; they are acquired through a systematic program of instruction.
